Recurring chlamydia on rise
Though health experts have long known that chlamydia often afflicts teenage girls, new research conducted at the School of Medicine shows that the infection may be more than a one-time visitor.
The study suggests that recurring chlamydia infections occur in 30 percent of young women between the ages of 14 and 19. That rate is higher than previous studies have indicated, creating new concerns for victims of the most common sexually transmitted disease.
This article seems to proclaim that promiscuity amoungst those infected result in recurring infections.
I however contracted chlamydia 8 months ago and have just had it recur without having a sexual partner in between.
The only other time I contracted it was 10 years ago!
Therefore with the high rate of infection established other conclusions and further studies need to take place.
I am a 27 yr old male, it must obviously be possible for this disease to maintain a dormant or undetectable state for more than 8 months.
Medical professionals seem to also be in denial as how easy it is to treat on both occasions I had 1 week treatments of doxycycline that did not fully eradicate symptoms or the disease even though I have had results come back negative and later 1-2 weeks come back positive.
Draw your own conclusions but this disease has obviously got strains that have built up resistance to Doxycycline and Azithromycin as I have been treated by both with limited success.
To reiterate.
I discontinued all sexual relations until testing clear for this disease!
