Admissions strategy touts science resources

The recent influx of money into Yale’s research facilities, coupled with an increase in Yale students interested in the sciences, may validate the famed whispers from the cornfields — “If you build it, they will come.”

For undergraduate science, Yale and Caltech are by far the top two programs in the country. The student-faculty ratios, quality of instruction and research expenditure per student are unparalleled, even by MIT.

It is true that some of the departmental rankings are heavily biased towards larger programs, because of the way they are conducted. But if you look at quality-based rankings like ISI, Yale science departments easily hold their own among the other top 3-4 universities in the country, and are ranked #1 in many fields, including engineering.
