Does the process for recruiting and matriculating students through QuestBridge result, technically, in a 100% yield rate for admissions reporting purposes? It sounds as if it does.

Great articles about a very great program. Congrats Yale for participating in it, and evidently doing so well.

The article confuses me about how many QuestBridge students are counted as Yale applicants, Yale admits, and Yale matriculants.

#1: The QuestBridge will not guarantee a 100% yield rate as it was not binding.

#3: 1,123 applied for Yale, 19 were admitted. Since they are considered Regular Admits, matriculation does not need to be confirmed yet.

Does this mean that Yale's announced total of "regular decision" applicants includes the 1,123 from the QuestBridge group who "ranked Yale as one of their top 8 choices", or only the 885 who completed the application and submitted the Yale supplement?

How can people who don't follow through on their application be counted as "applicants"?

What a fantastic opportunity, both for the applicants and for Yale. Curious to know though how the admits did on standardized tests?

That's quite a bit below the 8-10% average for everyone else. Although presumably this is because the Questbridge group comes from a much weaker academic background, so perhaps this is actually quite a bit better than would be expected from this group.

the reason for the low rate of acceptance is probably because of the financial commitment Yale must make, not the strength of the applicant. As a questbridge finalist myself I would like to clarify that 60% of students are eventually matched to a really good school of top tier caliber..."this group" is actually quite accomplished I've found, and generally test scores and classes are on par with other applicants...it's a money issue.
