Darnell Goldson graduated first in his class from Hillhouse High School in 1979. Almost 30 years later, the thought of his alma mater still makes the lifelong New Haven resident emotional. But his emotions are hardly those of nostalgia.

As this race develops, I hope the YDN is a bit more probing in its reporting. Darnell was a longtime supporter of DeStefano but became disgruntled when he wasn't getting the patronage he expected in return for his loyalty. This seems like a repeat of previous (and unsuccessful) runs against DeStefano by the faction that ran Newton, Looney, Killins, etc.

If Darnell Goldson were ever to become Mayor of New Haven, people would forget

about the ID cards in their rush to renew passports and flee the country. This man's arrogance and thirst for undeserved recognition is only exceeded by his career track record; he is devoid of ethics and morals.

LOL, I love to read what other people have to say, especially when they hide behind anonymous identities, perhaps you guys should get city ID cards. I do have a couple of questions and comment though.

Alum -

1. What patronage did I expect, or request? I dare you to produce one piece of evidence to bare out your accusation.

2. It was reported that I did support John DeStefano, when he was a Mayor who focused on saving taxpayers dollars by holding steady on the budget. If you look at his first 6 or so years in office (of which I was a part of), he held true to protecting the taxpayer's investments. Over the last several years, in order to build a machine to run for governor, he has thrown that caution to the wind, and is hiring everyone who he believes will be useful to his campaigns.

Stunned -

1. I think your comment about passports to flee New Haven is funny (really). But seriously, is it "arrogant" to pay taxes in this city and wanting to have a say in how those taxes are paid? Is it having a "thirst for undeserved recognition" for a school aged father and taxpayer to be concerned about the 40% drop out rate in New Haven High Schools? No stunned, it is not my arrogance that is stunning, but yours. The fact that you believe that any citizen other than yourself or your self proclaimed "recognized" people are deserving of having an opinion on matters in this City is what is truly stunning.

2. Again, you make accusations without evidence. Prove that I have a lack of ethics and morals. Even behind your fake ID you don't do so.

YDN readers, you've gotten a perfect introduction to Darnell. He will spend the next 2 years on this site trying to defend his EXTREMELY sketchy record at CAA, attacking DeStefano and his "machine," and otherwise lashing out against any detractors.

What have you done for New Haven recently other than attack those in government? Yes, politics is about seeking higher office, why is it such a crime for a successful, multiple-term mayor to seek the governorship?

Alum,

You did and still are attacking me. I'm not attacking DeStefano, but instead providing a different take on how local government can be run. Why are you so afraid of that? Who have I attacked in government? When did I ever say it was a crime to to seek higher office? Again, attacks without specifics. I have no need to defend myself from you, since you are not saying much of anything. And I certainly did not lash out at you, except to ask you to provide proof to your sketchy accusations. Again, I dare you to produce one piece of evidence to bare out your accusations.

Mr.Goldson is making some very good points.

upon reading this i just might support this man to be the next Mayor of New Haven,at the least he will make an impression

There are a few out of line accusations against Mr.Goldson-Alum? you can't be serious, you come off as some cousin or city hall relative of Desteffano,

don't mess with family i guess

Lots of residents might agree with some of his statements.

You wont see the Mayor here ,he runs to D.C. whenever the going gets tough.

i can't imagine what the Mayors trying to sell down there.
