If storefronts were feathers, Yankee Doodle Coffee Shop might soon have a new one to stick into its hat.

It should be noted that about $20,000 has been expended/donated by supporters of the Doodle. Most of it was in merchandise sales, however, of which only about 30% can be counted toward the effort. The $4-5k amount is not indicative of the full level of support.

Great to know things are on track to have the Doodle reopen. It would be awesome if they could get the old stools and maybe some equipment out of Tyco's space. If Tyco is going to expand their store, they won't need a grill.

Rick and the Beckwith Family deserve our continued respect and support.

Many thanks to Clarence Zachery and the University Properties Team for recognizing a The Doodle as a part of Yale and New Haven's living history. Yale has made the right decision to help preserve our beloved historical eatery.

Hooray for The Doodle!!! I for one will be taking a personal day from work to celebrate the re-opening!!!

Please consider visiting www.thedoodle.com to see how YOU can make an impact in saving The Doodle today.

The Doodle is a valued part of Yale's history, but there is also a reason it closed. If people are going to invest in reopening it, then someone needs to take a look at a business plan that will enable them to stay open. It would be a shame for people to invest so much if they will be back in the same place a year from now.

#2 and #3, the Doodle may be a part of Yale's history, and that in itself may be a sufficient reason for us to want it to stay around, but the main reason still is that the Doodle offers the best burgers around, by far (and when I say around, I don't just mean New Haven).

#4, presumably, unlike Tyco, the new landlord will not charge a rent that is well-above market with the hope of chasing away the Doodle, so the Doodle will not have this problem after it moves.

Watch the Doodle have a few months of outstanding business upon reopening, and then fade back into obscurity with its awful business plan. I feel a bit bad for the owner - Yalies are deceiving him. They don't particularly like the Doodle, they just like to get worked up over charity causes.
