Officials break ground on planned 3.2-acre health facility
State-of-the-art home for YUHS expected to open by 2010
Very well-written article, Ashley. Don't listen to the haters. They don't appreciate good journalism.
The fact is, Anon, that dealing with the effects of a "late-night romp" is the only reason many, many students even know DUH exists. And with Yale's alcohol policy, no one is afraid to go.
Nice article. I'm sure the frocos of Brewster and Swensen Colleges will appreciate this place (that cinder block test run to DUH would have gotten a bit longer otherwise). No matter what "Anon" might think, it's going to be well-used.
"Levin said the hired design firm, Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects of Atlanta, Ga., designed the building with 'few right angles.'"
Few right angles? Didn't we already learn that that goes badly?
While I am disheartened that us students will have to walk even farther to get to the doctor, a new facility is certainly needed. While they're at it, maybe they could hire a few more real doctors so we don't have to keep being seen my nurses at physician's assistants - they try hard and are knowledgeable but I would really rather see a doctor (without waiting for months to get through the queue).
By the way those, those images of the new health center look awesome! I hope it actually ends up looking like that. It would be the best new building Yale has built in decades. May they only have the foresight to hire someone as talented for the new colleges. May they also have the foresight to let the architects do this correctly rather than constraining them on time and budget (just look at the horrendous addition to the A&A - bad architects + fast schedule = worst building ever).
"...the aftereffects of a late-night romp"
i think they're going for DRUNK, but it just comes off sounding like yalies are contracting vicious stds. bad, bad journalism, indeed.

"...the aftereffects of a late-night romp"
Yale students? Who are you kidding?
Stop making jokes and just report the news.
