Man arrested for firebombing Yale power plant

Police arrested a West Haven man Friday night for, among other things, throwing a Molotov cocktail at Yale's Central Power Plant on June 7. No one was hurt in the ensuing fire, which workers quickly extinguished.

Robert Thompson, 30, told police that he was glad about being arrested so he could tell them what he did.

According to news reports, Thompson told police that he was trying to "melt down" the plant, which is located next to Swing Space and actually happened to melt itself down last year. He explained...

Why should loonies invoke allah? Islam appears to be religion for corrupted and unbalanced minds and thats why we see terrorits also swearing by allah

YDN moderators, why are you letting comments like the above be posted? I think your readers would really appreciate it if you developed some standards for your comments that would allow people to present various points of view and interpretations or ask questions in a way that would enhance the experience of the website and shed new light on the article for others.

I criticize your choice to post the above comments because they are using the mention of Allah as an opportunity to spread an anti-Muslim agenda despite the fact that there is no evidence that Robert Thompson is a Muslim, or that his crimes were religiously motivated. Thus, their comments have little to do with the article and so are of little value to other readers.

Stricter scrutiny of the comments would enhance the quality of the website and lend credibility to the YDN as a quality news source. The NY Times policies concerning comments might be a good model: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercenter/faq/comments.html

Robert? I know I know that guy. He usually plays music on the streets of New Haven though he's not the best.

He's slowly been since more distrusting, it seems, last summer. Is there any more information? Apicture?
