If you use Hotmail, you haven't gotmail (from Yale)
Don't try to send an e-mail to an msn.com, hotmail.com, or live.com address from your Yale e-mail account; Microsoft is currently blocking all e-mails sent from mail.yale.edu to those domains. According to a message on the Yale ITS website, Yale is working to contact Microsoft to resolve the issue but does not know how long it will be before it will be fixed.
In other...
The last paragraph of this post is foolish. Hotmail has more users than Yahoo! mail and Gmail. That's not to say there aren't better email services out there, but Hotmail is much more popular than people seem to think and there's no need for such snarkiness from the YDN.
snarkiness
@#2: Agreed- Hotmail and other MS Live services (Bing services now I guess?) are quite popular. Maybe not among our Macbook-clutching, white iPod headphone-wearing, tech-oblivious Yale crowds, but the real world is a bit different.
Nothing new though- from my years here so far, I'd expect such snarkiness from the YDN with regard to any tech not deriving from Apple, Google, or Facebook.
I too can not get into hotmail account since yesterday

Get a life.
Kind of ironic that I got this feed after it was forwarded from a yale.edu panlist to my @msn.com address - apparently the block isn't absolute.
I also take issue with the "snarkiness" of the YDN. Maybe you guys haven't been paying attention, but Microsoft offers a comprehensive and very well organized (not to mention fully integrated) set of services. I have my Yale mail forwared to my live mail account, which is then downloaded to Outlook. Outlook then filters it in seconds down to different categories from different lists, threads it, and prioritizes it. Outlook then syncs seamlessly with a project server and a sharepoint server (my employer's) which then syncs my calendars, tasks, and contacts with my windows mobile phone - it can even do this wirelessly. I can edit any office document on my phone, store most of my photos and active projects on skydrive, and access/edit documents from anywhere using office live. I can collaborate on projects using sharepoint, share workspaces on groove - the list goes on and on. Did I mention that hotmail offers ever-growing storage - it bests gmail's limit (albeit a hefty one), and many of the "wonderful" gmail features already have existed in hotmail/outlook for a while.
So lay off. Microsoft offers very well integrated software, stability, and compatibility. Just because you need to use a macbook because you can't figure out a more complex operating system doesn't mean that the more intricate interface is out of date.
Incidentally, I just submitted a comment using google chrome (which I don't care to retype), which failed to post (no doubt due to some compatibility issue). Yeah, microsoft stuff is so terrible - funny how it just works.
the snarkiness by the YDN is only bested by the snarkiness of its comments
