On Friday, about 72 hours after Annie Le GRD ’13 was last seen entering 10 Amistad St. through its front doors, two Yale Daily News reporters walked through that same entrance. They showed their Yale identification cards to a security guard and took the elevator down to the building’s basement. What turned out to be the scene of a homicide had not yet been closed off to Yale faculty, staff and students.
As news spread Sunday night that a body had been found at 10 Amistad St., the Yale building where Annie Le GRD ’13 was last seen, students across campus expressed fear and uncertainty about their safety.
Investigators have found the body of a female inside a wall in the basement of 10 Amistad St., the building where Annie Le GRD ’13 was last seen, authorities said Sunday evening.
At a press conference at New Haven Police Department headquarters, NHPD Assistant Chief Peter Reichard said the remains were found shortly after 5 p.m., adding that he could not confirm whether the remains were Le's. Still, he said, authorities are now classifying the case as a homicide investigation.
The building should have been quarantined upon report of her failing to exit building all deliveries disposals activity stopped. Nothing will bring her back, but more scrutiny may have prevented additional mayhem, resolved this mystery sooner and/ or preserved clues that according to reports are being investigated at other locations.
