Briefly: Rell seeks $25M to help stall foreclosure crisis

In Connecticut’s latest step to stop rampant home foreclosures, Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced she is seeking $25 million to help communities respond to the crisis. She said in a statement she has submitted a draft plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program for funds to make neighborhoods more secure by buying and rehabilitating foreclosed homes to help surrounding properties maintain their value. Under the initial proposal, New Haven would receive nearly $3 million. The state has until Dec. 1 to submit a final plan to the federal government.
