Around New Haven: Revamped Metro-North car prototypes on display for feedback

Models of the new M-8 railcars for the Metro-North commuter railroad, placed in Union Station, were met with positive reviews, according to visitor surveys. Inadequate legroom was the most frequent complaint. The M-8 prototypes are scheduled to arrive in 2009, with 10 rail cars delivered to Metro-North each month beginning in 2010. All 300 cars, designed by the Japanese company Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc., are set to be delivered by 2012.
