Police shoot man with Taser

Police officers shot an unidentified man with a stun gun at 8:07 p.m. after he became "combative," according to the New Haven Police Department.  The man, who was spotted walking in the middle of the roadway near Shelton and Bassett streets in the Newhallville section of the city, appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said.  He became combative after officers approached him, and the police subsequently shot him with a Taser.  The man was hospitalized, and no further details were immediately available.
