Thomas Steitz, a Sterling professor in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, will officially receive the Nobel Prize for Chemistry today at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden. The Nobel Committee informed Steitz in October that he would be one of three individuals to receive the 2009 Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and a share of $1.4 million, for his work mapping cellular protein factories.
