Eight alumni of the Yale World Fellows program were designated Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum. The honor recognizes the eight selected — Imtiaz Ali, Felix Maradiaga, Orzala Ashraf Nemat, Verena Knaus, Maria Lisitsyna, Amit Wanchoo, Thi Hai Khuat and Emilia Sièáková Beblavá — for their “professional accomplishments” and “contributions to important global issues,” the University announced in a release Thursday. The group of eight fellows, which includes a special correspondent for the Washington Post and the founders of several international nonprofit organizations, are among 230 chosen from a pool of 5,000 candidates. Young Global Leaders meet at biannual summits and agree to dedicate “a part of their time to jointly addressing global challenges.”
