The Yale volleyball team took to the court Friday afternoon in their second-to-last home game, against Columbia, and they came away with a convincing, three-set victory, with set scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-18.
The Bulldogs started the game with great intensity, feeding off the crowd and the conspicuously present Yale Precision Marching Band.
"It was nice to see a lot of energy from us," head coach Erin Appleman said. "The band being there definitely helped us."
The outcome of the match was never in doubt. Every time the Lions made a run, one of the Elis — often one of the dynamic duo of outside hitters, Alexis Crusey '10 and Cat Dailey '10 — was there to make a key block or kill.
The Bulldogs benefited from a 47-to-20 kill advantage over Columbia.
Yale is now set to take on Cornell Saturday at 4 p.m. at the John J. Lee Amphitheater in what will be the team's final home match.
"Hopefully, the emotions will take care of us," Appleman said.
