Smoking in Yale housing — is it allowed?

Mixed messages. After a cigarette caused a fire in a Branford College suite last Thursday night, it remains unclear whether students smoking cigarettes in rooms are breaking any rules. Yale College Undergraduate Regulations on housing maintain that "[s]moking is forbidden in the colleges, on the Old Campus and in the New Residence Hall ('Swing Space')." But the Council of Masters policies say that smoking in suites is permitted if all members of a suite agree to allow it.

Maybe so, but I certainly hope you're not dense enough to think that the administration cares that it happens, be it tobacco OR weed. Good heavens...

You aren't seriously dense enough to think that any Yale policy permitting smoking in certain areas pertains to smoking marijuana? Dear God...

Perhaps this policy needs to be looked at. I'm all for people smoking who want to smoke, but one thing:
My room connects to another common room where they smoke EVERY Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. A lot. How does the council of masters policy make sense when I didn't agree to be in that environment, and yet find myself needing to open my windows and set up a fan each week or else end up high. Just saying.
