Briefly: Road Race to cause some street closures
Monday, September 7, 2009
Due to the New Haven Road Race, an annual event in its 32nd year, there will be periodic street closures today around the Yale campus in downtown New Haven. Major streets on the race route include Elm Street between Howe and State streets, State Street between Elm and Edwards streets, Whitney Avenue between Willow and Grove streets, and Church Street from Whitney Avenue to the New Haven Green. The race begins at 8:40 a.m. Streets will be closed as runners pass through and be reopened after the runners have passed, City Hall spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga said in an e-mail. Because the Yale Shuttle runs on affected streets, there will be disruptions in service.
