Briefly: Police use Taser in response to weekend Park Street disturbance

New Haven Police Department negotiators and SWAT personnel responded to a call to a group facility at 90 Park St., near the intersection with George Street, on Saturday evening after a man was breaking windows and “off his meds,” NHPD spokesman Joe Avery said in an e-mail. When the man did not respond to officers’ request to open the door, the officers made a forced entry and tasered the man, who was then taken one block away to Yale New-Haven Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, Avery said.
