NBC to broadcast Yale rugby
NBC to broadcast Yale rugby
Monday, March 8, 2010
In what is probably the first ever appearance of college rugby on broadcast television, NBC will televise the first Rugby Sevens college championship, featuring a game between Yale's rugby team.
NBC will broadcast the tournament, which will be held in June in Columbus, Ohio, in the 4:30 p.m. ET slot on Saturday and Sunday.
The Yale team is currently on tour in Ireland and will also make a stop to play a match in Cambridge.
Rugby Sevens will debut as an Olympic sport in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Correction: March 8, 2010
An earlier version of this article misstated that Yale would be playing Navy. The bracket has not yet been determined.
