After her $1,648,470 win at the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event back in November, Vanessa Selbst ’05 LAW ’12, has gone on to prove herself a true poker star by taking first place for the second year in a row at the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour (NAPT) at Mohegan Sun Wednesday. Mohegan Sun is considered Vanessa’s home turf, since she got her start playing poker in Yale and the surrounding casinos (Foxwoods and, later, Mohegan Sun among them). Her first win at the tournament earned her $750,000 and rocketed her into a serious poker career. This win earned her $450,000.
