NHPD officer charged with sexual assault
Marks fifth arrest since March 2007 FBI probe into embattled department
Following a six-week internal affairs investigation, Anthony Maio — a 13-year veteran of the New Haven Police Department — was charged Wednesday with two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of unlawful restraint.
Maio is fifth New Haven police officer to be arrested since the March 2007 FBI probe into the NHPD that sparked city-wide calls for reform, transparency and accountability. But unlike the other officers arrested, such as convicted narcotics chief Lt. Billy White, Maio faces charges that are misdemeanors, not felonies.
Still,
One problem is that we have an "Acting NHPD Chief" rather than a real one. If she is only an actress, of course the crime goes up! Maybe we have acting police officers too. Where is the taxpayer funds going if we can't even get a real police force. Acting police will not be able to stop real criminals. People wake up!
This is what affirmative action does to your Police department. Anyone wanna vote BNP in 2008 ?
this is specially for #2 By actors Not needed... Obviously you lack the intelligence to comprehend the term "Acting Chief" in no way does it implied that she is an actress. It simply means that she is in charge temporarily until a permanent Chief is hired. It shows your poor judgement when making a statement without really knowing the concept of what the terminology is of "acting"
City of New Haven, what a joke! Why don’t they have their crack investigator, that frosted mullet head, Capt. Peterson investigate real crimes? You can start with Capt. Redding who was arrested twice at a Meriden massage parlor and was let go as a favor to his wife Assistant Chief Redding. She must be so proud of her husband… or you can investigate your little side kick Maximus Joyner Brown. That’s right, I played football with him and he was the biggest user of illegal drugs I ever met, now he a New Haven Police Officer? WOW! Instead you take the word of two under aged drunk girls over a dedicated Police Officer. I wouldn’t want you on my team, once again, good job!
I'm glad the NHPD is undergoing some appropriate scrutiny. You don't want it turning into the Madison Police.
