Outside New Haven City Hall on Saturday morning, anti-illegal-immigrant speeches dueled with blaring Latino music for the attention of passersby.

Inside, dozens of families, many of them with young children, celebrated a city-sponsored “Family Day.”

The festivities — including art displays, food, raffles, music and community-organization tabling — were an outgrowth of the city’s efforts, through the Elm City Resident Card, to reach out to what it considers often-marginalized segments of the community, regardless of their immigration status. Attendees at Family Day could...

I noted in the speeches that Visconti called for an investigation of New Haven under the federal racketeering laws. I noticed that you didn't include his call for action in your article. I also noticed you didn't mention that the city fired dozens of workers Friday to cut costs while they are handing out social services that are free to people who don't pay taxes, but very cost to those who do. Did you run out of space?

As usual, another news article, biased towards Mayor Destefano and his illegal programs. You must be young and inexperienced with our Constitutional Laws. DeStefano ia a traitor to our country and his "oath of office" he will be tried and convicted. Its just a matter of time. It's a known fact that the people speaking the truth always get labeled as racists, hatemongers and whatever other names could be thought of. As a news reporter, you should stick to the facts, and print them accordingly and correctly. Wouldn't want to see you in court being sued for libel or slander now would we.....

What the public should find alarming isn't necessarily the Mayor's refusal to comment on the federal laws he is violating, but the collusion of the media that refuses to even ask the question: Why are you not upholding your oath of office? Why are you violating the Constitution? Why did you replace the POW/MIA flag with the flag of a foreign government? Yale's objectivity certainly comes into question when reasonable readers would assume you at least "know better."

Mayor DeStefano admits that he ignores legal American citizens and instead, he panders to those who are law-breakers! The Mayor needs to realize that millions of American citizens support the causes of CWP and other organizations! Shame on the New Haven voters for electing a Mayor who certainly has no respect for this nation's laws nor its legal citizens! Greed is his priority!
This American thanks the CWP and others who attended the event to protest the event, this mayor's actions and the racist organizations taking part!
