Mayor to run again
New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr. said he will seek a ninth term as mayor next fall, the New Haven Advocate reported Monday.
The mayor said if he wins another election, he will work with new New Haven Police Department Chief James Lewis, whose term expires in January 2010, to define the “direction of the police department.” A ninth term would make DeStefano the city’s longest-serving mayor.
