Channeling Obama, teens embrace oratory

Barack Obama is not the only one who thinks it is time for change.

At Yale’s Afro-American Cultural Center on Sunday afternoon, the Yale chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People hosted an oratory contest for local high school students titled “Speak Out: Is America Ready for a Black President?” And for the seven students to take the podium, the resounding answer was: “Yes.”

I think john arminio makes very valuable points in his essay.more children should be as focused as john is.

What a moronic and demeaning title. Did these idiots expect that one of the black kids would argue that no, we shouldn't elect a black president tomorrow?

I would like to comment to NAACP supporter. Did you ever in your small mind consider the fact that all the children in the essay contest were not African Americans? That the American people as a whole are ready for a change and that todays, children are the leaders of tomorrow with no emphasis on color.My congrats to John Arminio and all the other children who entered the contest.
