Briefly: Jones outlines plans to partner with city ‘Safe Streets’

Democratic candidate for Ward 1 Alderman Mike Jones ’11 said that if elected he will partner with the New Haven Safe Streets Coalition in order to make Yale’s campus safer for pedestrians. In a statement released Wednesday morning, Jones outlined a plan to add traffic-calming measures to the roads enclosing Yale’s central campus by adding new crosswalks, lowering the speed limit on campus to 20 mph and creating bike lanes. Why is Jones' traffic calming plan more conservative than what the BofA already has on the table?

I think 15-20 mph is a good guide, 15 or 20 is the general "best practice" for an urban area with many pedestirans, like elm street by durfee
