Democratic candidate for Ward 1 Alderman Mike Jones ’11 said that if elected he will partner with the New Haven Safe Streets Coalition in order to make Yale’s campus safer for pedestrians. In a statement released Wednesday morning, Jones outlined a plan to add traffic-calming measures to the roads enclosing Yale’s central campus by adding new crosswalks, lowering the speed limit on campus to 20 mph and creating bike lanes. I think 15-20 mph is a good guide, 15 or 20 is the general "best practice" for an urban area with many pedestirans, like elm street by durfee
