One thing i noticed was this Alder candidate was standing a few feet from the voting entrance - a far cry from the State Mandated 75 feet .Or can u if you have no flyer in your hands or buttons of any kind ? basically across the street one would stand to stump

Didn't you post the same thing on the New Haven Independent website?
I've also seen pictures of Katie standing pretty close to the entrance, but it's a moot point. This was basically a straw poll. The Ward 1 Committee chairs could still decide to endorse Minh or Katie, and Mike would have no recourse. It'd crush confidence in the straw poll, but Mike would have no recourse. Similarly, Minh and/or Katie could break their pledge and primary Mike. They'd look like sore losers and get blown out of the water, but even still, Mike would have no recourse.
So yeah, the State of Connecticut rules don't apply because this wasn't a state-sanctioned election. Several Calhoun College students who are in Swing Space (Ward 22) this year and who will be back in Calhoun proper (Ward 1) next year, were allowed to vote in this "straw poll," provided they sign a pledge to live in Ward 1 next year. So again, not a state-sanctioned election, and CT election law doesn't apply.

It would have been better to not have quoted someone's mom in a college newspaper article about her offspring particularly.
This isn't high school after all.
