Few Elis turn out to vote

Yale was hardly the focus of New Haven’s elections Tuesday.
New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr. did not concentrate on Yale student votes in this election, according to his deputy campaign manager. And Ward 22 alderman-elect Greg Morehead said he won Tuesday thanks to support from the Dixwell neighborhood at large, not just the ward’s Yale students. Though Saybrugian Mike Jones ’11 was elected Ward 1 alderman, he ran unopposed.

Maybe I'd vote here if this weren't a one party town and I wasn't registered at home. You folks can vote to legitimize the Democratic dictatorship if you want to; meanwhile, I plan to keep using my vote where it actually matters. Chris Christie '09 baby... look out for 2010, Barry.

Maybe the races in the college's wards weren't that active, but in Ward 10, where Elicker FES'10/SOM'10 ran for alderman, Yale students were heavily involved. Many graduate students live that ward, in the East Rock neighborhood. Many graduate students, especially those at the School of Forestry and the School of Management, showed up to not only vote for Justin, but to volunteer for him energetically! Yet this article contains not a single mention of the Yale participation in the Ward 10 election. Sadly, but not surprisingly, YDS yet again ignores the activities and accomplishments of the graduate and professional students.
