It’s 2 a.m. and you’re cramming for a midterm tomorrow. Your brain is in need of a serious recharge, so you head to Durfee’s for an energy drink. You find a variety of products, including drinks and supplements enhanced with açaí berry extracts. Your caffeine-addled mind can’t tune out the spam e-mails that advertise açaí products as improving general health or sexual performance, so you grab the $3.49 “Açaí Machine,” made by Naked Juice.

Try the original açai from Brazil and your life will be changed forever. It is the healthiest stuff out there. What we get in the US does not even compare to the açai in Brazil.

Also, açai is just a Brazilian thing, not a central american/south american one.

Your "margarine-like imposters" are a blessing to those with dairy allergies; they're dairy free, trans-fat free, and can be used like butter in baking and cooking. I, for one, am happy for these enhanced and improved products (although I agree that they can be expensive). Not all so-called functional foods are evil.
