WASHINGTON, D.C. — Walking into a wood-paneled hearing room on Thursday morning, University President Richard Levin turned to a reporter who had traveled here to observe his testimony before a Senate panel. We’ll be lucky if there’s more than one senator in attendance, he said. Don’t expect too much.

Little did he know what Sen. Larry Craig had in store for him.

Indeed, the hearing did progress routinely for about 40 minutes, as Levin predicted. But then Craig — who earlier had complained that the hearing had been reduced to nothing more than “an alumni gathering for Yale,”...

I guess this performance is another version of Craig "taking a broad stance."

Larry "wide stance" Craig is in no position to criticize anyone else's footprint.

Yale has much more / much better scientific research than Berkeley (in part because it has a medical school, while Berkeley does not), especially on a per-student basis. Yale's per-student scientific impact is at least 3x higher than Berkeley's.

What? Two of those committee members -- Clinton and Lieberman -- are not Democrats! They've both endorsed John McCain for the presidency over Barack Obama.

That Craig has the nerve to criticize anyone like this publicly only reaffirms the supreme irony that he has legislatively sought to oppress gays while he has personally sought illegal gay sex in public bathrooms.
