Robert Bork settles $1 million lawsuit with Yale Club
For some observers, irony seen in a suit filed by one of the country's leading tort-reform advocates
Robert Bork, the former Yale Law School professor and one-time Supreme Court nominee, has settled a $1 million lawsuit with the Yale Club that he filed for injuries sustained when he fell at the alumni social club last June while steeping onto a dais. But the terms of the settlement are confidential, Bork's attorney, Randy Mastro, said Monday.
Mastro declined further comment. Eric Schnittman, the attorney for the Yale Club, did not return a phone message seeking comment. Neither did Tim Hill, a spokesperson for the club.
Bork sought $1 million in damages, claiming the Yale...
It is silly to see Bork's simple slip-and-fall lawsuit against the Yale Club of New York City, a private club (try getting in univited if you are not a paid up member) as evidence of ill-feelings against Yale. The fact that he agreed to speak at the club on the unfortunate day in question suggests quite the opposite; there are plenty of other public rooms available in Manhattan for that purpose.
Lose the portrait of this guy at your law school. He's no one of whom to be proud.
Yeah, we generally respond to viewpoints we don't like by taking down their proponents' portraits. That'll certainly weaken their arguments that they're an oppressed minority in academia. Smart move, Princetonian.
