University names new deans for freshmen, intercultural relations

The University has tapped staff from the University of Michigan and Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute to fill posts in the Yale College Dean’s Office, Dean of Student Affairs Marichal Gentry announced in a press release this week.

Raymond Ou, currently residence-life and student-activities coordinator at the Peabody Institute, will take over as assistant dean for freshman affairs. In April, YCDO announced that George Levesque, dean of freshman affairs, would assume the post of assistant dean for academic affairs and focus on the development of the freshman-seminar...

Don't we need a dean for sophomores, for juniors, for seniors? And I think all these deans need associate and assistant deans. Then they can beat up on the faculty for not teaching more effectively.

We could instead just devote the money to hiring more faculty.... nah, that makes far too much sense.
