With cries of ‘Yes, we did,’ Elis celebrate Obama’s victory
At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, Yale exploded. For the second time.
It started at 211 Park St. A mass of about 100 students that surged towards Old Campus, chanting.
“Obama!”
Students rushed out from all corners of campus, in a clear demonstration of their political leanings. (4 in 5 students polled by the News last week said they were voting for the Illinois Senator.)

"Yes we did" elect the first black President of the United States, and it is truly amazing.
But we must not forget that we are far from the end of the road. "Yes we can," I hope, change our country for the better, by making our nation more secure and freeing us from reliance on foreign oil. "Yes we can" regain our respectability in the world and defeat those who fight against liberty and want to destroy the United States by destroying our most foundational ideals. It is not a time for complacency - it makes me happy to see so many students interested in "winning an election" - but now let's work on learning from the lessons of history, staying truly informed and open minded, and helping to make a better world. It is not enough to win an election. And I hope that Yale students understand that.
