Briefly: Peru looks to local court in dispute over artifacts

The leader of Peruvian efforts to repatriate Inca artifacts housed at Yale said yesterday that his government, if it chooses to pursue legal action against the University, would file suit in a court in Cusco, Peru. The announcement, made by Jorge Villasante, the Peruvian minister of labor and employment promotion, is another indication that the terms of last September’s memorandum of understanding between the parties are no longer acceptable to the Government of Peru.
