Eli named Rhodes Scholar

A Davenport College senior is among 32 students nationwide who this weekend were awarded the Rhodes Scholarship, the most prestigious postgraduate academic scholarship.

Jarrad M. Aguirre '09, of Centennial, Colo., will head to Oxford next fall after being chosen from 769 applicants endorsed by 207 schools across the country. The Rhodes Trust, which administers the scholarship, announced the winners on Sunday.

Aguirre, a molecular, cellular, and developmental biology major and a junior member of Phi Beta Kappa, plans to study medical anthropology at Oxford, the Rhodes Trust...
