Student jobs safe amid budget cuts

As the specter of layoffs looms over the University, student jobs on campus will likely remain safe, at least for now, administrators said.

Although officials and department heads said the specifics of departmental budget cuts remain uncertain, they reiterated the University’s commitment to employing students, who can perform office work or research relatively inexpensively. I'm not sure what the criteria are for a "student job," but I know at least three student interns where I work (in a Yale office) were laid off at the end of last semester for budgetary reasons. It seems as though this article is simply administration propaganda. Dig a little deeper, YDN.

O man...when you get laid off from a student job at Yale, you know the recession's getting bad.
