Williams: Give us one card to pay for everything
Most college students hope to see improvements at their school accomplished within their four years, but student government representatives have even shorter time frames to get things done. I find is strange that Yale University, in all its valor is so behind on the times. Interesting that this article can highlight a way that Quinnipiac is superior.
i also find it humorous that yale still makes its undergrads pay to use the laundry machines. at civilized schools, the laundry machines in the dorms are free. tuition (well, room and board fees) are enough to cover the pittance that they would make on charging for machine use.
I never quite understood why we really need this. Making laundry electronic already messes things up--I remember laundry machines that used quarters. You could set the time for how long your clothes would dry for by using more or fewer quarters. It was within your power to save both money and energy. Yeah, sometimes it's a pain to have to carry around quarters. But I would rather make that little bit of effort than spend too much to over-dry my clothes.
Most people I know manage just fine with their cash and their credit cards. I'm not really sure what groundbreaking new benefits having campus cash would add.
