The Zociste Monastery was situated about five miles outside of Orahovac, a town in western Kosovo. Its church was a treasure — dating to the 13th century, the interior featured medieval frescoes and beautiful wood carvings. Dedicated to eighth-century healers Cosmas and Damian, the church filled a special role in the spiritual life of those in the region. They brought their sick to the church, hoping they might benefit from the prayer of the monks and the presence of relics.

On June 24, 1998, Richard Holbrooke, then-President Bill Clinton’s special envoy to Kosovo, made an...

And yet, the American Revolution was somehow entirely without dirty tactics, right?

This is something that requires time... Both sides have very strong opinions, and I say we give Kosovo a chance first.

If Serbians were predominantly Muslim and the Kosovars predominantly Christian, one wonders whether this op-ed might not read differently. Even the very right-wing globally have found siding with Serbia difficult in the last 20 years, it takes a special sort.

One can see pictures on www.kosovo.net of Serbs living behind barbed wire in this "multi-ethnic country". Not even Serbian cemeteries were spared from destruction after 1999 NATO occupation. Why does the U.S. support this barbaric behavior? Camp Bondsteel, the largest U.S. base in Europe went up overnight. Considering how bureaucratic the military can be, this seems strange?

The most objective article on Kosovo situation I have read! Finally something that's not a product of various political agendas.

thanks for telling the truth. Holbrooke and the us administration are held responsible for encouraging and financing terrorist organization KLA to provoke legal authorities and draw their response as a prelude to illegal nato intervention. we all hope justice will find him. btw, KLA people are the biggest herion suppliers to the EU.

Good article. Too bad's Serbia's tantrum probably won't help their cause and just make Kosovo look better for independence.

This is from a UK site... Make your own opinions whether Kosovo really deserves to be ruled by Serbs, despite whatever the KLA's done...

At last the truth. Yet the power of propaganda is so great that those whose minds were made up by that same propaganda in the 90's cannot let go of their mistakes. The tracks are laid in their brains.
No amount of evidence will surmount the simple version of the 'good guys' and the 'bad guys' Well if such a simple version must be believed, then get ready to swithch hats. Albanians and Serbs have double headed eagles on their respective flags.
The Albanian eagle is black on a blood red background. The Serbian eagle is white.
