News' View: The Crimson shows its true colors
In the spirit of brotherhood, News editors hosted their Cantab peers in a friendly get-together last year on the eve of The Game. But this year, Crimson editors have gone into hiding. We expect little more from their football-playing peers.
This Saturday will mark the 125th time the Harvard and Yale football teams face off in a battle of strength, strategy and stamina. Even at Yale, an institution so steeped in ritual, The Game stands out as a testament to the importance of tradition.
For students, it is a time to celebrate and proudly wear our colors. For alumni, it...
Honestly, you are mostly right. We should have invited you. We spurned you. It was our fault. However, your story was an exercise in hyperbole.
"That night, we marveled at our similarities...We bonded, and we danced atop our historic boardroom table — together."
Really? I was there, in your "boardroom." Not only did you yell at us as we attempted to dance the Soulja Boy on your table, but you also started a "Harvard Sucks" chant. Really YDN? Most of The Crimson editors left within the first hour due to the tremendous disrespect and lameness that was rife in your "humble quarters." You displayed anything but "camaraderie."
That said, you should have been invited to our more than "humble" quarters. We simply spurned you, instead of embarrassing you by demonstrating how much better our parties can be.
It is pure folly to back down from a competition that one will surely win. For that we do sincerely do apologize.
wow, lame lame lame
LOL. Harvard SUCKS.
There are plenty of ways to make a case for Harvard's superiority to Yale, Thomas L., but let's be realistic -- comparing parties isn't one of them. Just contrast The Game tailgate experiences at each school: Yale's is expertly managed and everybody gets trashed; Harvard's is a poorly-attended affair more dismal and glum than some funerals I've seen.
Also, this is a pretty thin-skinned response to a "The Game" editorial. I know you guys did that stupid "Yale students took over the Crimson!" thing this year, but usually both papers write something incendiary and obnoxious about the other school. Don't be bitter just because you doubled down on a shitty non-joke.
It would have been great to get to host and meet you guys... But that Friday was the day we were celebrating the announcement of the new leadership (the 136th guard). We were spraying people with champagne and having a special dinner, so having you guys over at the same time would have been just awk.
a little pathetic.
