The residential neighborhood of Mt. Carmel, the area directly surrounding Quinnipiac University, was home to shady sidewalks, quiet cul-de-sacs and grassy backyards long before it became known as a college town. And therein lies the problem — as Quinnipiac has grown over the past two decades from an unassuming commuter school to a bustling and competitive regional university, the quiet residential setting outside campus limits has turned not so quiet, much to the dismay of neighbors.
