In celebration of National Poetry Month, Atticus Bookstore and Cafe, located on Chapel Street, gave away about 100 to 200 loaves of bread each week in April to impromptu poetry readers. Atticus also drew professional performers and readers.

“People of Atticus, I hope I will not offend when I say, ‘I don’t like poetry, I’m here for the free bread,’” he said.
