BUFFALO WINGS

Tangy, meaty and messy — of all the late-night munchies, one stands above the rest. Hot wings are a snack that gives us a deep, primal satisfaction. This week I visited three of New Haven’s favorite casual dining destinations in search of the perfect wing experience.

You didn't try Archie Moore's, on Willow St. in East Rock? Is it because it's a little more than walking distance from campus? I'm not really a wings connoisseur, but they supposedly have superb wings.

I am a wing connoisseur and Archie Moore's does have the best wings in town, though I have never been to a wild wings.

Yes, Archie Moore's has the best wings. When undergrads venture out that way toward any of the better East Rock establishments they come back all giddy as if from a field trip. It's a nice walk. Go get some wings and a beer!

FYI-true Buffalo wings, as originated at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo in 1964, come with celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing, NOT ranch. The menu is still the same. www.anchorbar.com
