Off the road again
Consistency has never been a word one could use to describe Neil Young. His music is often political, frequently exquisite and has been profoundly influential, but the man himself rarely finds something and sticks with it — his in-and-out track record with Crosby, Stills and Nash is just one example of this pattern. With “Fork in the Road,” Young’s new concept album, the Canadian folk-rock legend once again demonstrates his unpredictability.
“Fork in the Road” addresses the industrial age, the open highway and the American dream, but its main theme is simple — the album is about...
Couldn't agree more with the reviewer. Pathetically dull and uninspired "lyrics", no artistry, smotheringly annoying backing vocals. This one is DOA. Seems Neil lost his muse.
Dude You couldnt be more wrong! As an Avid Neil Young fan I feel "Fork In the Road" contains some of Neil's best Tunes in a while...and for the most part it's happy...Neil is not know for making "Happy" Records. Put this album on and take a nice scenic drive...really. Cough Up the Bucks is has a great groove, Just singing a song is very Cortez the killer-ish...great guitar...very catchy. You didnt mention "Johnny Magic"....Rockin' tune! Extremely catchy...one of the best. Light a Candle...CLASSIC NEIL YOUNG! While I will admit some of the lyrics tend to me hokey "Fork In the Road" as an album Rocks! Neil Young doesn't make the same album twice like so many others. And he DOESNT MISTEP!
I've had the pleasure of seeing Neil live 15 times and the last time at MSG front row and he played most of this material....I was left breathless. At 63 he rocks harder then people 3 times younger. Give this album a second or third listen before you judge! ROCK ON NEIL!!!!!
