Quinnipiac is a university in transition, consumed with expansion and plagued by the requisite growing pains.

Down the street from the original Mount Carmel campus, in an area referred to as York Hill, construction is underway on almost 2,000 new dormitory beds, parking and student space. Those beds are intended for undergraduates who have moved into Hamden to live, forced off campus, at least in part, by the largest incoming class in the school’s history.

Academic excellence cannot exist without freedom of speech. The Academy is dedicated to the pursuit of truth---not the pursuit of public relations. Quinnipiac began as a School of Business, later became a college and although it has adopted the name University (implying a graduate school) it still operates like a School of Business. It has not evolved---it has expanded.

Quinnipiac is an excellent university. It is exceptional at training students in certain specialized fields. For example, its Physician Assistant program ranks 14th in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report while Yale's program ranks 40th. QU excels in the health sciences, business, communication fields, liberal arts, and law among others. It was ranked #1 in the Northeast by U.S. News as the top "up-and-coming school" ahead of Bentley and Loyola College in Maryland. QU ultimately has a bright future. Yalies should be pleased to be neighbors with a thriving, prestigious university such as QU. Together, these two institutions only make the New Haven area better.

P.S. - I am sure that QU is looking forward to dominating Yale in ice hockey again this season in the ECAC Hockey League.
