PROVIDENCE, R.I. — There’s no need to worry about keeping up with a high-powered offense if you boast one of the nation’s best defenses — and Yale’s crucial victory over Brown on Saturday proved yet again that defense is the name of the game on the gridiron.

The Bulldogs (5-3, 3-2 Ivy) were able to hold an explosive Brown (5-3, 4-1) offense to just a field goal and generated just enough offense of their own to leave this city with a hard-fought 13-3 victory. The win over the first-place Bears kept the Bulldogs’ Ivy League Championship hopes alive with two games...

Obviously, by winning out Yale will take care of Harvard's second Ivy defeat. The biggest obstacle in Yale's title scenario is that Brown will have to lose to either Dartmouth or Columbia.

If Harvard can beat Penn, then Yale has a chance to tie for the title next week in Cambridge. I have a feeling it will be payback time - big time - for last year's debacle in New Haven.
