Wescoe ’10 blends golf and art
Most athletes at Yale draw a sharp line between their academic and athletic careers. But Ben Wescoe’s ’10 passion for golf has enabled him to combine both.
“He wears on his sleeve his love of the game and his respect for the traditions,” head coach Colin Sheehan ’97 said. “It’s a delight as a coach to have a player like that who cares so deeply about the sport.”
Wescoe’s deep commitment to the sport stems from his involvement in all aspects of golf, not just the game itself. His passion for landscape architecture and art has brought him closer to the sport and created a new love...
Good article on a good guy. I have never had anything but the best impression from Ben, both in class as well as outside the academic setting. A real stand-up guy. It is great to hear about someone who has found a way to blend a passion into their academics. As a non-golfer, but as a person who has been to quite a few seaside golf courses, I can understand how it is a quite interesting thesis.
...regardless of what you think, do you really feel good about what you wrote, you silly hater? Sign your name next time, and deonstrate your own sincerity. Sheesh.
Great article. Ben certainly is a stand-up guy. Rarely in life does one get the opportunity to blend a passion, or in this case two, into a career. I'm very pleased that Ben is taking this opportunity and seems to be making the best out of it. And, I didn't know about the Yale First Tee program. Very cool to help those who otherwise would be unable to play a great game, and more importantly learn the lessons and values that come with it.
he's good at golf, but an insincere guy
