The men’s soccer team was able to hold its own and keep a tied score against the No. 11 Princeton Tigers (13-3-1, 7-0-0 Ivy) for more than sixty minutes on Saturday. But in the end, freshman Princeton midfielder Patrick O’Neil broke the tie in the 62nd minute with an unassisted goal and the Bulldogs (3-12-2, 1-5-1) fell in their final game of the season, 2-1.

M. SOCCER | Yale to conclude season against Tigers

The Bulldogs (3–11–2, 1–4–1 Ivy) will take the field for the last time in 2010 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon against the No. 11 Princeton Tigers (12–3–1, 6–0–0 Ivy). The Tigers are looking to secure the Ivy League title with a win against the Bulldogs. Yale holds the lead in the long-time series 42–35–22 and has gone 3–1–1 in its last five meetings with Princeton.

Despite holding a 1–1 tie at halftime with the No. 17 Brown Bears (11-2-3, 3-2-1 Ivy), the men’s soccer team (3-11-2, 1-4-1 Ivy) couldn’t withstand a full 90 minutes of play and allowed three second half goals, falling 4-1 in its final road game of the season.

The men’s soccer team wants to end itsfinal road trip of the season on a good note Saturday when itheads to Providence, R.I. The Bulldogs (3–10–2, 1–3–1 Ivy) are looking to get revenge for the frustrating 2–1 loss to the No. 17 Bears (10–3–2, 2–2–1 Ivy) last year.

Coming into the weekend, the men’s soccer team was virtually dead even on paper with Columbia, and Saturday night it showed. The Bulldogs (3-10-2, 1-3-1 Ivy) and the Lions (5-7-2, 1-3-1 Ivy), both tied for sixth in the Ancient Eight, battled to a scoreless double-overtime tie in the Elis’ final home game of the season.

With their starting goalie suspended and coming off a 2-0 loss to a tough Penn squad, the men’s soccer team (4-10-1, 1-3-0 Ivy) kept its composure Wednesday night and defeated Lehigh (7-6-2),1-0, at Reese Stadium in their last non-league contest of the season.

For over an hour on Saturday, the fifth-place men’s soccer team found themselves sticking with nationally ranked Penn. But a red card in the second half on goalie Bobby Thalman ’13 and the penalty kick that followed put the men’s soccer team (2–10–1, 1–3–0 Ivy) in a hole that it could not could get out of in the Bulldogs’ 2–0 loss against No. 15 Penn (11–2–0, 4–0–0) on Saturday night at Reese Stadium.

Fresh off their first Ivy win of the season, the men’s soccer team plays its first home Ivy League game this weekend against No. 17 Penn (10–2–0, 3–0–0 Ivy) at Reese Stadium on Saturday. Nearing the halfway point of the Ivy League portion of the season, the Bulldogs (2–9–1, 1–2–0 Ivy) are coming off three consecutive Ivy games on the road.
