The coed sailors secured their spot at the ICSA semifinals this weekend with a second-place finish at the New England Dinghy Championship.

It was an up-and-down weekend for the Bulldog sailors over the weekend as the teams struggled with difficult starts at several New England regattas.

SAILING | Sailing wins Ivy League title

For the third year in a row, the Yale sailors raced to victory in the Ivy Championships over the weekend. The No. 4 Bulldogs won the Mosbacher Trophy and the Owen Trophy, both of which were hosted by Brown in Providence. The Mosbacher Trophy goes to the Ivy school with the highest-ranked team, and the Owen Trophy is awarded to the team that wins the weekend’s regatta. “Winning Ivies early on in the season is very motivating,” women’s captain Blair Belling ’11 said. “We looking forward to the rest of our competitions.”

SAILING | Elis prepare for spring down south

It was a busy break for the Eli sailors as they split their time between conference racing and practice. Thomas Barrows ’10, Mike Hession ’10, Sarah Lihan ’10, Marla Menninger ’10, Blair Belling ’11, Liz Brim ’11 and Joe Morris ’12 represented the Elis in various regattas on the Atlantic Coast that count toward the team’s ranking, while other sailors competed in secondary events.

Hitting the southern seas, the Elis opened their spring season with a splash. For the fourth year in a row, the Bulldogs won the Mendelblatt Team Race in St. Petersburg, Fla.

W. TENNIS | Elis back at home

The women’s tennis team will attempt to hold its 20-match home winning streak as they face UMass in the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in their spring home opener today. Play will continue on Saturday against Memphis.

M. TENNIS | No. 1 USC handles Blue

It was unthinkable that the men’s tennis team could manage a victory. But in an intense final match against No. 70 Radford, the team pulled off a win and the rights to face No. 1 USC.
