The excitement toward “The Game” has captured the attention of many at Yale. But in and around Ingalls Rink, the Crimson pale in comparison to the Big Red.
The men’s hockey team will take its first steps toward defending its ECAC championship this weekend. The Bulldogs will travel to upstate New York to play Rensselaer (4–3–1, 0–0 ECAC) tonight at 7 p.m. and Union (3–3–1, 0–0) tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Expectations for the men’s hockey team have never been so high.
Joining a new team is never easy, especially not a team that looks to improve upon its most successful season in team history.
Q: After the huge success of last season and winning the ECAC championship, what are your expectations and hopes for this season? A: We’d like to improve upon last year. I think that everyone in our locker room feels like they can get better individually and that we can get better as a group.
In their first regular season game at Princeton on Saturday, the Yale men’s hockey team showed why it is favored to defend the ECAC championship, convincingly beating the No. 11 Tigers 5–2.
